Rescueing and Rehoming Senior and Disabled Dogs, Zoom Fundraiser
During our February webinar, Disabled Dogs: Extra Special Leaders in Community Kindness, we learned about inspirational, influential disabled dogs who bring their positivity to children, seniors, veterans, and others through local community outreach and social media. Of course, all the dogs featured in that presentation came with their own sometimes horrifying rescue and rehab story. So, in addition to their work in schools, nursing homes, hospitals, and veterans homes, they are also ambassadors for rescued dogs like themselves.
This Zoom webinar will focus on the challenges and rewards of rescueing and rehoming senior, medically complex, and disabled dogs. We will be joined by April Plemons, fouding director of Long Way Home Adoptables, and Christina Powell, founding director of Special Needs Animal Rescue League, for an in depth discussion of what it's really like to be on the frontlines of this area of rescue.
There are many important aspects to the rescue of extra needs dogs- owner surrenders, hoarding situations, severy injured, neglected, and abandoned dogs, medical care and rehab, quality of life considerations, fostering and screening applicants to find just the right match for complicated cases.
This will be an informative, enlightening discussion that will give you a whole new understanding of rescueing the extra special ones. We hope for an outpouring of support for this webinar as we are fundraising for LWH Adoptables, SNARL Rescue, and Piglet International Inc's Rescue Fund.
